Hi everybody.
I'm Phil and live in Sydney, Australia. I'm 46yrs old and been writing code for 18yrs.
I have no formal qualifications other than that I am a licensed electrician with post trade studies in electronics. However I have been in electronics since I finished my apprenticeship.
I have been involved in electronic design, including PCB layout, as well as my preferred pastime of cutting code. Can't say I'm an expert, but have all those years of experience and it has kept me employed and providing for my family.

I have used many processors with the main lines being 6801, 6303, 86HC11, 68HC12, AVR, MSP430.

I started out self taught assembly language on the 6801. I then moved on to self taught C with huge help from the Waite Groups book "C Primer Plus". I have never seen a better book to learn C from.

I have a great interest in learning to use RTOS's. Have used Salvo's co-operative RTOS and am in the process of creating a port for Richard Barry's FreeRTOS for the HCS12 under the IAR C compiler.

I have also implemented devices supporting USB. I found this to be a big learning curve. But it was great fun. Mind you I'm still learning.

Maybe I better shutup now..........................

Wow! By the way, thanks for joining this forum! Hope you can contribute, it seems you have a lot of experience.

It looks like, you have used Motorola (Freescale) microcontrollers. I should add a section for that... I myself have used the HC08 series.

I too have also read C Primer Plus (I think they are in the 4th edition now, but published under Sams) and I agree that is a great book! I have a collection of Waite Group books such as C++ Primer Plus and other programming, a bunch on raytracing and graphics, and game programming. They use to have a really cool website also, like more than 10 years ago. laugh.gif However, I tried looking for Waite Group Press and couldn't find them anymore on the web. Does anyone know what happened to it?

Well, thanks again for joining this forum and please enjoy your stay! smile.gif
